Big Smoke Magazine (Issue 4 Vol 2 August 2007)
"Dropping their EP is The Blendaholics, straight out of Manchester. Not afraid to vary their sound, each of the tracks boasts a different style. In a league of its own, 'Roast Me A Joint' reminds us how fresh Hip-Hop can sound. The use of Mardi Gras horns over an infectious Break-Beat is a nuts combination".

"Merging live instrumentation with hip-hop is nothing new but when its done right, it can sound good. Manchester outfit The Blendaholics aren't far off it with their madcap musical mashes even though you'd be hard pushed to push them into the hip-hop pigeonhole. Nevertheless, 'Crack' fills that gap with Random Barks, who sounds like he could be Roots Manuva's northern cousin, reeling randomness over squelching bass and haywire horns."
| | top | | The Sandman Magazine (issue 131 May 2007)
"The first release from their commendably aspirational label The Kr8z Recordings. The Blendaholics venture out their rumoured talents with this statement of intent. Straight from the wacked-out jazz wail of 'Crack', you know what you're getting - a thinking mans hip hop, rich with a deep history of dub and competent cultural styles that produce the same engaging result that The Roots pride themselves on. Live, The Blendaholics have been displaying a full representation with their nine piece band packing brass, electronic effects and guitars galore.
The Gallic rap twist of 'Neuf Millimetres' necessarily invokes the faithful varieties of MC Solaar, whilst 'Underworld' presents another different outlook to be impressed by. Taking a breakbeat turn with 'Roast Me A Joint' references local hero Mr Scruff, and the picture is complete.
So with EP 1, we've many fresh facets of an admirable agenda from an intriguing local bunch, addressing an oft overlooked area both locally and on a wider scale. And on that wider scale, expect The Blendaholics to be reaping the kudos over this year".

"The hard-as-nails funk of the top-class ëRoast Me A Jointí is the Blendaholics octet laying down a bullyboy bid to reclaim Manchester hip-hop power. The main attraction by a mile, hobnailed drum kicks and a mixture of seedy and demented horns turn the track into a kind of madcap thriller. Screwing up honking horns is something of a calling card for the live stage specialists. On ëCrackí, featuring Beastie Boys-style moog and a rugged flow from the sometimes Kashmere-ish Random Barks, the brass is near enough sucked dry off the trumpet. Springy funk for the French-tongued Ras Byronigeria on the inoffensive ëNeuf Millimetresí, and the fashionably folk-hop chatter lead by Bradey on ëUnderworld,í complete the package."

"With the emergence of acts such as this Manchester lot, UK hip-hop could finally come of age and move one huge step ahead. The Blendaholics, an nine-piece collective which includes DJs, Mcs, singers, producers and musicians, effortlessly assimilate thirties jazz ('Crack';'Roast Me A Joint') or northern pop/rock ('Underworld') into B-boys jams of a new kind, think Rae & Christian meets De La Soul. With lots of gigs and a forthcoming album, you'll soon hear a lot more from this eclectic bunch."
